We welcome new riders to ride with Histon & Impington Bicycle Club (HIBC) as invitees on a trial basis for a few rides. Thereafter we require all riders to be members. HIBC uses the British Cycling Club Membership system. Payment of the membership fee grants you membership of HIBC until the date stated on the British Cycling Club Membership system. Membership renewals will be issued in June each year.
HIBC rides are not coached sessions and there is not an organiser with legal responsibility for other riders. A club ride is simply a group of riders on a joint excursion on the open road which may include sections on busy roads. Members who wish to join our chain gang and paceline training rides should be experienced at and comfortable in close group riding.
HIBC is affiliated with British Cycling. This provides third party liability insurance for officers of the club. The policy only indemnifies the club in respect of its legal liability for accidental loss or damage to third party property or accidental bodily injury or death to third party persons. It does not include personal accident cover, liability for accidents caused by club members, or damage to equipment.
Membership of HIBC does not include any form of insurance cover, or membership of British Cycling. We recommend that all members join and obtain insurance from British Cycling or other insurance providers.
