HIBC at Lea Valley Velodrome

HIBC hit the boards of Lee Valley Olympic Velodrome - HIBC

A fantastic evening of team riding and fun racing was had by about 20 HIBC club riders who got to enjoy a 2 hour track session at the Lee Valley Velodrome in May 2023.

The group was split into two, and a series of chain-gang style pursuit team riding, and fun mini races was held with 2 coaches from the Lee Valley Velopark.

Any nerves about pedalling up the banked curves were quickly swept away. Everyone got used to their fixed wheel bikes provided at the venue.

The session was not really about racing, but about learning to ride the wooden boards of a 250m velodrome under different group and individual conditions.

It was tremendous fun, and there will be another opportunity for members in the future – we’ve applied for another session in September. Watch this space!

  • 2026 Tour de Mont Blanc

HIBC’s 2025 trip to the Alps was my best HIBC tour yet…in fact, it was so good that I started to plot a route for 2026 in the car on the way back.  And so, 12 months later, 13 HIBC cyclists took on the challenge of 6 days of cycling the Tour of Mont Blanc. […]
  • HIBC goes to the Alps

As Douglas Adams almost said, the Alps are big. Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mindbogglingly big they are. I mean, you may think it’s a long way up Chapel Hill, but that’s just peanuts to the Alps. Here’s our story…. Fourteen intrepid HIBC Alpinists arrived in Annecy on the evening of […]
